Katie's Leopard Print Baguette Bag

Katie's Leopard Print Baguette Bag

Katie from the I Can Make Bags team made a leopard print baguette bag.

Before making this bag, Katie had no bag-making experience. She followed the tutorial in the Online Course and made a few little changes to make the bag completely personal to her!

Here's how Katie's looks in comparison to the one I teach in the Online Course ⬇️ You can see that it's much the same but has Katie's personal touch!

The changes Katie made were:

- Using the mini pattern instead of the medium size pattern.

- Using a magnet closure rather than a twist clasp.

- Using Sam Brownes for the adjustable strap rather than a buckle.

- She added a leather trim to the body of her bag - this was both for practical and style reasons. When using hair-on-hide leather, it is very difficult to hand-stitch as you cannot see your punched holes. To combat this, Katie added a leather trim so that she could punch her holes through this instead and they'd be visible

You can watch the making process below:

Now let's break it down step by step:

Step 1: Cut out the pieces and reinforce the leather if needed.
Step 2: Add the optional trim to the main body of the bag.
Step 3: Stitch on the trim and add the hardware to the main body of the bag and the sides of the bag.
Step 4: Hand stitch the sides in place using my hand-stitching technique.
Step 5: Edge dye the sides with a dark brown edge dye to match the colour of the leather.
Step 6: Add the adjustable strap and you're done!
